Guide for families
Crime scene & death cleanup cost in Racine
What drives the price, and how most families end up paying little or nothing.
- Racine-based techs
- 15-20 min arrival
- IICRC certified
- No money up front
Quick answerThe cost of crime scene or death cleanup depends on how much area is affected, how long before it was found, what has to be removed and whether rebuilding is needed. Insurance often pays, and victim compensation can help. VerdaCrest gives you a written scope before any work and never asks for money up front. Price factors
What changes the cost
The size of the affected area. How deep fluids went (surface only, or into pad and subfloor). How long before discovery. How much has to be removed and disposed of. Whether you want the rebuild.
Because we evaluate with precision equipment first, you pay for what’s actually needed, not a guess.

Who pays
How families pay little or nothing
Insurance often covers it. In Wisconsin, crime victim compensation lists up to $1,000 for cleanup, and Illinois has its own program.
Any remaining cost is written down and approved by you before we start.
Examples
Why two jobs can cost very different amounts
A small blood cleanup on a tile floor, found right away, might take a few hours and involve no removal at all. An unattended death discovered after several days might involve removing carpet, pad, subfloor and drywall, treating odor at the source and rebuilding. Both are cleanup jobs, but the work is completely different.
That’s why honest companies don’t quote a firm price over the phone without seeing the scene. We’ll give you a realistic range if we can, then a written scope with the real number after we evaluate.
Red flags
What to watch for when comparing companies
Be wary of anyone who wants a deposit or a credit card before evaluating, who won’t put the scope in writing, or who can’t tell you where the biohazard waste goes. Also be wary of a very low price that doesn’t include removal, disposal or odor treatment.
Ask whether the price includes the rebuild, or whether you’ll need a second contractor. A cheaper cleanup that leaves a gutted room can cost more in the end.
No money up front
How we handle payment
We don’t ask for money up front. We work with your insurer first, help with victim compensation when it applies, and only then look at any remaining balance with you. That balance is written down and approved by you before work starts.
If you don’t have insurance, call anyway. We’ll talk through options and give you a written price before anything happens.
